Warelex has released a version of Mobiola Web Camera for smartphones based on S60 3rd Edition. The programs makes it possible to connect a Symbian-smartphone to PC and use it as a web camera. There are two ways of connection – via a USB-cable or wireless via Bluetooth interface.

The product consists of two parts – the client for the smartphone and Web camera drivers for Windows-based PC, which according to the developer support all Windows-applications receiving video stream from the Web-camera. In the Internet emerged the info on two new models by i-mate – i-mate SP JAM communicator and i-mate SPW smartphone.

Under the preliminary info, i-mate SP JAM is equipped with a hybrid keyboard (digital and QWERTY). I’d note larger flash ROM size and GPS-functionality. The specs known at the moment:

  • Bluetooth 2.0 and Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g)
  • miniUSB, IrDA, TV-out

i-mate SPW smartphone is simple, it doesn’t even have a QVGA screen like many new models, but a 176x220 pixels display. However it features good connectivity specs, it is claimed to support UMA technology.

  • Operating system - Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone
  • GSM (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) and EDGE
  • CPU - TI OMAP 850 200 MHz
  • 2” display, 176x220 pixels
  • 64 MB RAM and 128 MB flash ROM

  • 1.3-megapixel camera
  • Bluetooth 1.1 and Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g)
  • miniUSB
