i-Mate JAQ – the first PDA-enabled phone not by HTC?
[ 21-08-2006 10:30 ]
Author: Verà Kozlova Source: PDA Mania Translation by:
At the Hungarian site PDA Mania you can come across the info on the i-Mate JAQ communicator, which is not officially announced. It is equipped with a QWERTY-keyboard like HTC Excalibur (according to the rumors). However it differs from the latter in a 2.8” diagonal (not 2.4”), sensor LCD (rumors), a miniSD slot (not microSD) and the lack of Wi-Fi.
It is supposed to be the very device called Mercury by the Taiwanese company Inventec, which was approved by the FCC in February 2006, however under the i-Mate brand. If it is really so, the fact is more than interesting – earlier i-Mate had been releasing HTC-developed products under its brand. I’d remind you, when HTC decided to release its products under the own united brand, I-mate started looking for a new ODM/OEM partner.
The specs of i-Mate JAQ:
- Operating system Windows Mobile 5.0 for Pocket PC Phone
- CPU TI OMAP 850 200 MHz
- 64 MB RAM and 128 MB flash memory
- 2.8” QVGA (320x240 pixels) LCD, 65K colors
- 1.3-megapixel camera
- QWERTY-keyboard
- GSM (850/900/1800/1900 MHz), GPRS and EDGE
- Bluetooth 1.2 and IrDA
- Slot for miniSD cards
- 1440 mAh battery
- Dimensions – 122x71x22 mm
- Weight - 160 g
