We’ve already mentioned HTC Excalibur smartphone with the QWERTY-keyboard in our news block. The official announcement hasn’t yet taken place, however there emerged new live photos of the device.



We’d remind you preliminary specs of HTC Excalibur:

  • Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g), Bluetooth and miniUSB
  • Slot for microSD cards

The introduction of HTC Excalibur is expected in September.

The US operator Alltel Wireless has released a cellphone SCH-A645 produced by Samsung. This is quite a simple clamshell phone meant to make calls.

It features 32-tones polyphony, speakerphone, voice command recognition, calendar, organizer, alarm clock and calculator. It supports downloading of games and other content, and Axcess Web and Axcess text messaging services. Measuring 88.9x43.2x22.9 mm it weighs 90 g.

The SCH-A645 is available at Alltel site for $9.99 after a $20 discount (in case of a 2-years service contract).

Rollei is about to release a compact digital still camera Rollei dt6 Tribute. It can boast of at least 4.8x optical zoom, which is much better than the standard 3x.

Rollei dt6 Tribute is equipped with a 6.36-megapixel CCD-sensor and a 2.5” LCD. It can record MPEG4 video with sound. The camera carries 32 MB of memory onboard and has a slot for SD cards.

It is fed by a Li-Ion battery. Dimensions are 97x55x24.89 mm and weight – 140 g. The new camera will be available in August at the recommended price of ˆ279, i.e. $355.

Some time ago LG Electronics has released the VX8500 phone at the American operator Verizon Wireless – the version of the Chocolate phone with the support of high speed data transfer standard EV-DO.

There appeared live photos of LG VX8600, which is not officially announced yet. It is supposed to correspond with the Chocolate clamshell KG810/MG810 like the VX8500 with the KG800. it will be also released from Verizon operator.

Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) and LG Electronics (LGE) have reported that LGE chose OMAP-Vox platform for its new cellphone series supporting EDGE. Based on the OMAP platform, OMAP-Vox represents a family of integrated high productivity application processors meant for manufacturers, so they can supply multimedia applications to the mass market. The first LGE phones built on OMAP-Vox platform will be LG240 for Canada (August 2006) and ME240 for South America (September 2006). These phones have OMAPV1030 chipset inside to provide multimedia opportunities with EDGE functionality.
