Review Philips Fisio 625

Philips Fisio 625, live pictures

Differences of Fisio 625 from Fisio 620 are so insignificant, that they also can be described in one paragraph. So, the phone is available in 3 colors - Shining Silver, Magic Purple, Fantasy Blue, which are not similar to colors of Fisio 625. The new model looks modern and more attractive.

As this phone is a revised version of Fisio 620, it has the same virtues and shosrtcomings, you can read about them in a respective review. The phone has more reliable construction; in contrast to the previous model, it has no backlash of rear cover. The handset has also a better screen.

I can remind that Fisio 620 had green LED backlighting and it was rather dim and dark. Naturally, dark display wasn’t comfortable, sometimes you had to peer at it to read something. So, the screen was changed in 625. Font size and number of displayed lines remained the same. But now it has a white backlighting, and the information is quite visible in all lighting conditions.

There is EMS (version 4) standard support in this phone. Now you can send messages with melodies and pictures to any compatible phones, not only produced by Philips. Don’t forget, that to a considerable extent a possibility to transmit such messages depend on operator, and not only phone capabilities.

A set of pictures, which can be used as wallpapers, was slightly changed. These pictures can be assigned to caller groups from the phonebook. All official press-realizes of this phone indicate that Fisio 625 has a FotoCall application, which allows to assign pre-installed and downloaded JPEG files to names from the phonebook. In practice we couldn’t find this feature in the phone, we also found no word about it in a user’s guide. Probably, a capability to assign pictures to 5 caller groups was named in that way.

New type of display slightly influences phone energy consumption. Now it has shorter stand-by time, though the difference is almost not felt.

If you decide, which model to choose Fisio 620 or 625, we strongly recommend you to purchase the newest one, which has richer features and nicer design. Philips Fisio 625 will costs about 140-145 USD. The phone will be available in March. Despite many rival offers, which sometimes have more features, purchasing of Philips Fisio 625 is reasonable because it has built-in mail-client and rather low price. If later the phone costs 100-110 USD, it will be a popular phone on the market.
