One Share In Apple Now Costs More Than An iPad    [ 13-02-2012 20:30 ]

Apple's value as a company has been on the up for many years now, pretty much rising from the point Steve Jobs returned in 1997. However, in the past few years the value of the company has really exploded and on Monday they passed a new milestone: one share of Apple stock cost more than an iPad. The markets on Monday had one share in Apple priced at more than $499, which is the entry price for the iPad. Apple is now worth more than both Google and Microsoft combined.

Apple's increasing value also means it is putting away huge amounts of cash, now reported to be over $100 billion. With Apple almost certainly set to unveil the latest generation of its iPad in March that cash stockpile will no doubt grow even more. The question some are asking though is how long Apple can maintain this sort of momentum. No company can stay on top forever and market expectations will eventually reach a level that Apple can't support. Yet with rumours of Apple entering the TV market this year the Cupertino based company might have a lot more steam to vent yet.
