Video: Blackberry Monaco aka Storm 3    [ 21-02-2011 19:17 ]

Author: Irina Turina   Source: Crackberry     Translation by: Paul Smith    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

YouTube can be a goldmine for leaks and today saw the first video of the Blackberry Monaco aka the Storm 3 pop up there. The video was quickly taken down, but Crackberry managed to secure a copy before that happened! Huzzah!

Just on the name, there is still some speculation as to whether it will actually use the Storm brand, but for the moment it's still a possibility. Either way take a peek at a Verizon branded version in the video below:

We're looking at a 1.2 Ghz Qualcomm chip, 3.7" inch display with 800x480 resolution and there's a 5 MP camera with 720p HD support. Memory wise the handset has 4 Gb of internal storage and 768 MB of RAM. All the usual connectivity options, plus NFC, are present too.

The official announcement is expected at Blackberry World in May.

Win Phone Update Tomorrow?    [ 21-02-2011 18:36 ]

Author: Serge Novikov   Source: WMPowerUser     Translation by: Paul Smith    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Windows Phone 7 users might be getting an update tomorrow ... just not the one they've been expecting/hoping for.

WMPowerUser got a hot tip that Microsoft would be pushing out an update to their OS tomorrow, but it's not going to be the much anticipated arrival of copy/paste it seems. Rather the update sounds more like preparing the ground for a bigger update later on, presumably the one that will actually bring copy/paste and also a huge sigh of contentment from users desperate for such basic functionality.

Originally a major update was widely expected shortly after the new year, but by current estimates we should be looking at March or thereabouts for the platform's first major upgrade

NEC MEDIAS N-04C ... 7.7mm Of Japan Only Smartphone    [ 21-02-2011 17:31 ]

Author: Irina Turina   Source: Draft Life With Blog     Translation by: Paul Smith    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

The Xperia arc, Sony Ericsson latest Android flagship, was recently bumming about being the thinnest smartphone in the world, but the crown has already passed to the ridiculously thin NEC MEDIAS N-04C. As you might guess from the unwieldly name this is a Japanese handset.

More specifically it's a DoCoMo handset and it measures just 7.7mm thick. The slim profile still sees it pack in a 4 inch screen, 1seg TV tuner and of course NFC wireless payment options. The handset is running Android 2.2 (skinned of course) and it will be available soon ... in Japan only I'm afraid.
