Palm Pre to Launch in Europe 16th October    [ 24-09-2009 18:49 ]

Author: Irina Turina     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Well it's finally official ... the Palm Pre will be launching in select European countries on 16th October. The Pre will go on sale in the UK, Ireland and Germany on that date and will be an O2 exclusive in all three countries. At this point memories of the iPhone may be stirring and in the case of the UK that's even more apparent as it seems that O2 are using their iPhone tariffs for the Pre. UK customers will be able to get their hands on the handset for free if they sign up for an 18 month contract at £45 per month or a 24 month contract at £35 per month. The tariffs offer the same minutes, texts and data allowances as their iPhone counterparts. What's interesting about this development is that it shows O2 sees the Pre as either on par with the iPhone or at least in the same category.

HTC HD2 (Leo) Launching in UK on 12th October?    [ 24-09-2009 18:11 ]

Author: Serge Novikov   Source: Engadget     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Following on from the pictures of Leo that leaked out yesterday comes the news that there is a possible release date for the handset ... and it's soon! Engadget have apparently been given a tip-off that O2 UK are set to launch Leo, which will apparently be dubbed the HTC HD2, on 12th October. Engadget are saying that the information comes from O2's intranet, which, if true, would make this a pretty safe bet. One possible note of dischord though is that O2 usually brands HTC devices with the 'XDA' tag. Of course one could argue that HTC have been trying to establish their own name in the market so it is conceivable that they may have requested the handset be sold under their own brand. We'll know whether this is true or not soon enough ...
