Samsung are set to launch a 'low-end' Android handset, a lite version of the Galaxy (the amsung i5700) and here we can see it in action. Note that there is no TouchWiz UI in use, Samsung are apparently still working on this for Android. The handset shown in the video appears to be a finished model that is the sort one would see actually on sale.

Spotify Sees iPhone Backlash Over Pricing    [ 09-09-2009 17:55 ]

It looks like Spotify's new iPhone app has had something of a mixed reception. On the one hand it seems to be going pretty strong in terms of downloads, going straight to the top of the free download chart. On the otherhand its overall rating is a measley two stars. That reflects the majority of the thousands of comments the app has already receved. Many are complaning about the lack of a free ad supported service for the iPhone similar to the one Spotify offers desktop users. In addition to which many are also saying that £9.99/month is simply too much. How this will affect Spotify over the long term is a good question because they clearly want the iPhone app to be a catalyst for pushing people towards their premium subscription service; On the other hand if the lack of an ad supported free service for the iPhone is actively putting people off then they might change their minds given that users listening to ads is better than no users listening to anything.
