Satio Withdrawn From Sale In UK    [ 19-11-2009 21:08 ]

The Sony Ericsson Satio has been pulled from sale in the UK at the Carphone Warehouse. The reason for the recall is being cited as software issues. an all too common problem for Sony Ericsson handsets over the past year or two. Interestingly though Carphone Warehouse is continuing to sell the silver variant of the handset, it's only the black version that has been withdrawn from sale. There is as yet no word of whether this recall affects other retailers in the UK or indeed other retailers in other countries. Sony Ericsson themselves will not be keen on having their current flagship handset withdrawn from sale, especially so close to the Christmas shopping period. Sony Ericsson have been trying to put their previous history of buggy and defective handsets behind them and this latest episode certainly won't help those efforts.

Windows 7: Leaked Impressions    [ 19-11-2009 20:48 ]

Author: Ivanov Konstantin   Source: IntoMoibile     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

The OS wars have been heating up in recent months with Android surgingahead on a serious wave of momentum, not to mention Palm's webOS and of course the likes of Maemo. Windows Mobile has had its own headlines of course, in the form of WinMo 6.5 and it's been generally well received, but just around the corner there has always been the promise of WinMo 7. Well we now know a little more about it thanks to SoloPalmari and Google Translate. Here's what they had to say:

"Revolutionary, no need to take away: the next version of Windows Mobile, as shown by the leaks and the first screenshots of the new system, the Web will soon be spring, we are faced with an upheaval of the logic of interaction and not just a substantial revision of the interface. The concept of “applications”, as the programs continue to live their important identities, will bend to the principle of “user experience”. Finally the performance, the fluidity in the display of screens, images and icons becomes a priority. As powerful and versatile Windows Mobile will be next, will never submit to slowdowns and delays in the response. How will, indeed, as they did to achieve this result is not yet technically clear. But developers say Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT) is certain: the experience of use to forget the “old” Windows Mobile."

The translation reads somewhat stilted, but the general impression can probably be summed up by 'wow!', which obviously holds out the promise of Microsoft releasing something truly remarkable. Will it though? Well we'll have to wait and see of course, but Microsoft will be eyeing the competition warily and hoping to catch some of that sweet momentum they've been riding.
