Sony Ericsson to Produce Android Handset ... Just Not Now    [ 26-05-2009 20:46 ]

Author: Irina Turina   Source: Phone Arena     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Peter Ang, Vice President of Marketing for Sony Ericsson in the Asia-Pacific region, has said that Sony Ericsson will be producing an Android handset, but that the first model produced would be running Android 2.0. The good news here if of course that Sony Ericsson will be producing an Android handset, but with Android 1.5 having just been released and no timescale available for 2.0 it could be some time before we see it. Sony Ericsson have previously said that their Xperia brand would not be tied to any one OS so it's conceivable that future Xperia handsets may feature Android. With the end of UIQ Sony Ericsson has yet to find its footing with an OS for its smartphones so it appears that their options are still very much open.

Ovi Store Now Live    [ 26-05-2009 11:59 ]

Author: Klimov Oleg   Source: Mobiwoo     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Nokia's much awaited Ovi store has finally gone live. The online content store had been made available in a handful of countries already, but now Nokia customers in all markets can start downloading content for the handsets. Head over to http://ovi.com from your compatible Nokia handset to check out what's available and start bagging yourself some content. The Ovi store is Nokia's attempt at repositioning itself in the market, from simply a hardware manufacturer to a content provider. Nokia sees this as being key to their future so many will be keeping a close eye on how well Ovi does.
