If you fancy yourself as a fast texter you might want to hop on over to Jakarta for LG's second Mobile Worldcup this August. The South Korean manufacturer has a prize pool of $1 million for the world's fastest texters, split between various regional heats and a grand final. The 200 fastest will compete for a $9,900 jackpot before the competition begins its journey around the globe visting 13 different countries including Vietnam, Malaysia, South Africa, Mexico, Spain, Portugal, Colombia, Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Russia, China and of course South Korea. The final will be held in the U.S. in November where the 16 finalists from the regional tournaments will compete for a grand prize of $100,000. Last year around 700,000 people took part and LG is hoping that this year will be even more successful with 6 million people taking part.

O2 to Offer Pre-Paid Charge Cards    [ 15-07-2009 17:52 ]

Author: Ivanov Konstantin   Source: Pocket-lint     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

British network O2 is dipping its toes into the world of finance with the launch of pre-paid payment cards. In conjunction with Natwest O2 will offer two pre-paid VISA cards, 'Load and Go' and 'Cash Manager'. The cards will only be available to O2 customers and O2 will send you text updates whenever they are used so you can keep track of your spending. Cash Manager works essentially the same as a debit card from a bank in that it can pretty much be used for anything, you just fire some money onto it and away you go. Load and Go on the other hand is aimed at children and can't be used for naughty things like online gambling. At the moment the ETA for both cards is August. The launch of these cards will mark another departure from being a purely mobile network given O2's existing Joggler offering. Joggler acts as something of a family planner come media/picture viewer and sees O2 making forays into non-mobile markets.
