Nokia 5630 running on Symbian S60 announced, sports 600 MHz processor    [ 10-02-2009 23:15 ]

Nokia have announced a new candybar handset - the 5360, which runs on Symbian S60 3rd Edition, with Feature Pack 1. The 5630 is a music-focused handset - it's under the XpressMusic brand, after all, and as such, it comes with dedicated music playing keys, and a 3.5mm jack.

Most interestingly, the 5630 comes equipped with a powerful 600 MHz ARM 11 CPU. Also, as standard, the 5630 will come with a 4GB MicroSD card in the retail box.  The 5630 will be available on the market sometime in the second quarter of the year, at the price of €199/$256, before taxes and subsidies. A Comes With Music version is set for release sometime after, as well. Tehnical specifications are as follows:

  • Connectivity: Quad-band GSM, GPRS, EDGE, HSUPA, and HSDPA
  • Display: 2.2", QVGA resolution
  • Camera: 3.2MP, fixed focus lens, Dual LED flash, VGA video recording - 15 FPS
  • Memory: 60MB internal, 4GB MicroSD card in box, MicroSDHC expansion slot
  • Extras: 3.5 mm jack, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, Wi-Fi, FM Radio, with RDS
  • Battery capacity: 860 mAh
  • Dimensions: 112 x 46 x 12 mm
  • Weight: 83 grams

Sony Ericsson have today announced the first of three new handsets - the first being the C903 Cybershot slider handset, and as has been known for a while, it goes under the codename of Frances. The C903 is to be available in a choice of three colours - black, white, and red.


As for a release date and pricing, it'll be available sometime in the next quarter - so that means June at the very latest, and, as for pricing, that's not currently known as of yet. Technical specifications include:

  • Connectivity: Quad-band GSM, GPRS, EDGE, Dual-band HSDPA
  • Display: 2.4", QVGA resolution
  • Camera: 5MP, Autofocus, Photo fix, Smile Shutter, Face Detection, and BestPic
  • Video recording: QVGA resolution
  • Memory: 105MB internal, expandable via M2 card slot
  • Extras: A-GPS, TV-out, Bluetooth with A2DP,

Sony Ericsson have announced their second newest handset today - the C901 candybar handset, known under its codename Filippa. Spec-wise, it's very similar to the C903 that was just announced, though it loses a few features found in the C903, such as A-GPS, and TV-output functionality.

Though, it does gain an Xenon flash. Like the C903, the C901 is set to be on the market sometime in Q2, so June at the very latest. It'll be available in a choice of three colours - black, peach, and silver. As for the price of the handset, again, as is the case with the C903, that's not currently known, but should be soon. Technical specifications include:

  • Connectivity: Quad-band GSM, Dual band HSDPA, EDGE, GPRS
  • Display: QVGA resolution, shows up to 262 thousand colours
  • Camera: 5MP, Xenon flash, Smile Shutter, Face detection, Smart Contrast, BestPic, and Geo-tagging
  • Memory: M2 expansion slot
  • Extras: Bluetooth and USB connectivity, FM Radio with RDS

A forthcoming Sony Ericsson handset - codenamed Hikaru, has been leaked. It's model number is speculated to be the W923, revealing it to be part of the Walkman handset line. Design-wise, it looks to be reminiscent of the W910 handset.

It's being rumoured that the W923 - if that is indeed its model number, will start to be available on the market by the end of Q2 - meaning it'll be available from June, at the very latest. Rumoured technical specifications go as follows:

  • Display: 2.6"
  • Camera: 8MP, autofocus, LED flash
  • Memory: 8GB internal
  • Extras: Wi-Fi, GPS, 3.5 mm jack, dedicated music keys, situated on the device's right hand side, stereo speakers, and the Walkman Player version 4.0.
