HTC Mega: Cheap WinMo Goodness for the Masses    [ 24-08-2009 16:59 ]

Author: Irina Turina   Source: IntoMobile     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

WinMo handsets don't exactly have a reputation for being the cheapest options in the shop, sure there have been a few cheaper models in the past, but for the most part they tend to be relatively expensive options. HTC looks set to rememdy that with the release of the Mega, which should be fairly cheap although no actual price has come to light as yet. What we do have is a spec sheet for you to peruse.

  • 3.2 MP (fixed focus)
  • 2.8" 320x240 screen
  • 7.2 Mbps HSPA (dual band: 900/2100 MHz)
  • GSM/EDGE (quadband)
  • WinMo 6.5
  • 256 MB RAM
  • 256 MB ROM
  • WiFi
  • GPS
  • Bluetooth
  • microSD support
  • 528 MHz Qualcomm CPU
  • 1100 mAh battery

It's all pretty standard fare really, not a lot to get the high-enders excited, but then that isn't who this is aimed at is it? As for release we're hearing Q4 being touted.

Is This the Worst App Store Rejection Excuse Yet?    [ 24-08-2009 16:56 ]

Author: Ivanov Konstantin   Source: TechCrunch     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Apple's App Store has become infamous for rejecting apps for all manner of reasons, sometimes quite asinine one. Well TweetPhoto might just take the award for most ludicrous rejection reason ... their logo looked like a polaroid. Seriously. That is the actual reason Apple gave for rejecting the app. Interestingly Apple calls the logo a 'feature'. Let's take a look at the icon shall we?

You see the little photograph icon at the right hand side with the two birds? That's the logo in question. Sure it looks like a photograph, but when you look at it did you immediately think to yourself "Gosh! That looks just like a Polaroid! I wonder if Polaroid have anything to do with this app?" Probably not. Well apparently Polaroid think that people are easily confused about such things, as does Apple apparently. Apple's actual rejection letter:

“We’ve reviewed TweetPhoto and determined that we cannot post your application because it appears to include features that resemble Polaroid photographs. Polaroid has previously objected to other applications that include features that resemble Polaroid photographs, and believes that such features infringe its rights."

To be fair to Apple they are acting on existing Polaroid complaints, but then it's up to Apple to interpret these things and frankly this looks to be a bit over zealous. I think we might have a new winner of the 'Worst App Store Rejection Excuse' award?
