Cupcake 1.5 Available to Devs    [ 27-04-2009 21:44 ]

Author: Klimov Oleg   Source: Talk Android     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Continuing the Android news owners of of an Android developer handset are now able to download the 1.5 Cupcake update for their device(s). HTC's website is offering instructions on how to flash Android Developer handsets with the relevant system image. Devs will then be able to stay up to date with the most recent Android system images; test apps on different platform versions to assess compatibility and be able to restore a corrupted device to its original state. Non-developers probably won't see cupcake until around May or there abouts.

Vodafone UK Launches iPhone Portal    [ 27-04-2009 21:38 ]

Author: Klimov Oleg   Source: Pocket Lint     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Vodafone UK have launched a a new version of their homepage specially customised for the iPhone. On the ace of it it's something of an odd move for the network since they don't sell the iPhone themselves and have been in competition with the iPhone and it's official network in the UK, O2, with devices like the Blackberry Storm. Commenting on the new homepage Vodafone said that it is "...available to all iPhone users including non-Vodafone customers."

Vodafone's tack seems to be in putting their site across as a portal for concentrating information people on the move might find handy such as content from the BBC, Sky News, football results, Top Gear, weather, traffic, Twitter, Flickr, etc. Of course such a move will only add fuel to the fire of speculation that O2's exclusive deal with Apple to supply the iPhone in the UK is about to come to an end. Of course it could just be Vodafone trying to latch onto a demographic that makes good use of the internet on their handsets.

First Live Shots of the Android Powered Samsung I7500    [ 27-04-2009 12:00 ]

Author: Serge Novikov   Source: Re-posted from Mobile-Review.com (Russian version)     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Our chaps over on the Russian side of the site have managed to lay their lucky paws on a I7500 and have poste dup some rather nice images for you to enjoy. The images are a little smudgy, but you can get a good idea of the size of the handset from them. The handset itself appears similar to existing Samsung touchscreen handsets e.g. the Pixon so there hasn't been any radical departures in design it would seem.
