Samsung have announced two music-focused handsets - the Beatb, and Beats. The Beat b will be available later this month, and the S, sometime next month. Being music-focused handsets, they feature several things you'd expect to see in a music-minded handset, such as an FM Radio, dedicated music keys, 3.5 mm jack, etc. Also, both handsets come with a unique application, called Shazam, which, when you play part of a song, it will do its best to correctly identify it. Technical specs for the BeatS are as follows:

  • Connectivity: Tri-band GSM, EDGE, GPRS
  • Display: 2.0", QVGA resolution, shows up to 262 thousand colours
  • Camera: Two megapixels
  • Memory: MicroSD card slot
  • Extras: Bluetooh and USB 2.0, FM Radio with RDS, 3.5 mm jack, Shazam song identifying app, auto equalizer
  • Battery: 800 mAh
  • Dimensions: 96.5 x 46.9 x 16.9 mm
  • Weight: 101 grams

T-Mobile to sell HTC phone running Android for $199    [ 18-09-2008 22:44 ]

Author: Irina Turina   Source: engadget mobile     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

HTC's forthcoming Android-powered smartphone - known as the G1, and Dream, is to be sold on T-Mobile in the US, for $199, on a two-year contract.. The Dream/G1 is to be shown off at a press event, held in New York City, held on the 23rd of this month.

Also, in somewhat of a surpring move - what with some handsets normally being delayed by a week, or two, the Dream/G1 is to actually be launched earlier than expected. It was initially set to launch on October 20th, but it's suggested to now launch on the 17th instead. Granted, three days isn't a lot, but three days is three days, at the end of it.

Microsoft patents GPS Unit, with optional accessories    [ 18-09-2008 22:38 ]

Author: Irina Turina   Source: unwiredview     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Microsoft have patented, what is, essentially a GPS unit, at its core. But, should this patent become a reality, it can be made much more than that, should you so wish. You see, on the sides of the GPS unit, are various ports.

These ports will have external modules, which will allow you to connect different things to the unit - such as a modem, memory card reader or even a mobile phone. Think of it as an all-in-one device, although, as expected, a rather bulky one at that.
