Toshiba also looking into acquiring Sandisk    [ 16-09-2008 22:36 ]

Author: Irina Turina   Source: unwiredview     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

A few days back, it was reported that Samsung, the world's largest consumer electronics company, were hoping to acquire flash memory giant Sandisk. Well, now, you can add Toshiba into the fray as well, as they are trying to prevent this from happening. Both Toshiba, and Samsung have strong relationships with Sandisk. It seems Toshiba fear if Samsung do indeed acquire Sandisk, there will be a monopoly of sorts, what with the  possible acqusition leaving Samsung as the sole supplier of NAND flash memory chips, components, as well as subsystems. Once again, Sandisk have declined to comment on the matter at hand.

Sony Ericsson's XPERIA line of handsets to use other platforms, besides Windows Mobile    [ 16-09-2008 22:27 ]

Author: Irina Turina   Source: engadget mobile     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Sony Ericsson's XPERIA line of handsets - the first being the X1, will not only run on the Windows Mobile OS, but possibly other platforms as well. Although, it's not known which platform(s), one could possibly be UIQ 3.3, which was announced back in May of this year. The X1, which is schedule for release on the 30th of this month, will be the company's first ever handset running on the Windows Mobile OS, it's wise to assume they won't switch to another platform right away, for their next XPERIA handset.
