First Alpha of Firefox Mobile released    [ 20-10-2008 20:10 ]

Author: Irina Turina   Source: pocket-lint     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

As was reported last Wednesday, the first Alpha version was to be released this week - today in fact. It's currently only available for Nokia's Internet Tablets - the N800, and N810. Not only that, but, if you don't have one these devices, you can take it for a test run on your Desktop, as versions for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux are available for download. Don't think this is a cut-down version of the Desktop application, because that's not true. The Mobile version features many features of the Desktop version, such as Bookmarks, tabbed browsing, with thumbnail-sized images of the current tab, search bar integrated into the URL bar, zoom controls, download manager, password manager, pop-up blocker, and more. Also, there will be add-ons exclusively for the N800/810.

The first Alpha release currently focuses on the browser's User Interface, and, obviously, user feedback is key. As it's currently in Alpha stage, it's to be used for testing purposes only. No word as of yet when a Beta version will be available. You can download it here
