Nokia look to be on the verge of buying out Symbian, thus, forming the open-source Symbian Foundation, which should all be done and dusted by the year's end, according to chief development officer Mary McDowell. Said deal is worth in the region of €264 million. It was known back in June of this year, that Nokia wished to acquire the few shares that didn't belong to them, so, it hasn't really  taken that long. This couldn't of come at a better time, as Nokia aim to release the first devices running the open source OS, from early 2010 onwards, and, now, this may even occur slightly earlier.

The megapixel race shows no sign of slowing down, what with 12 MP units to be available to implement in handsets from early next year. It's been revealed by Samsung that the company has shifted ten million units, worldwide, of 5 MP and 8 MP cameraphones, to far this year. It's wise to assume most of those sold were 5 MP phones, as the company has more 5 MP, than 8 MP handsets available on the market. This huge number was reached, in the second week of this month.

Author: Klimov Oleg   Source: intomobile     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

First, Sony Ericsson released a Facebook panel for their XPERIA X1 handset, running on theWindows Mobile 6.1 OS. Now,they've released two more additional panels - a Windows Live, and a Dashwire panel. The Windows Live panel is prettyself-explanetory - it utilises your Live ID to synch contacts from your X1's phonebook, to your Live account, as well as letting you sign in to the Windows Live Messenger IM service. You also have quick access to the Hotmail service, and Live Search, whichcan be optionally voice-activated, and controlled.

The Dashwire panel allows easy access to the Dashwire service, which allows users to easily backup their contacts, send text messages from within their Web Browser, as well as share images and videos with their peers on popular social-networking sites, such as Facebook. All three panels are readily downloadable through the X1's built-in downloader.
