Contradictory to what we heard from Jerry Shen, president of ASUS, that the new EeePC won’t have touchscreen display, recent rumors suggest that it will. Digitimes.com has reported that the second generation Eee PC will be equipped with the touchscreen display. It will involve resistive screen panel appropriate for stylus operations, which is more mature compared to capacitive touchscreen technology, that is why Eee PC with the touchscreen will have additional cost of $10. The new ASUS products are expected in 2Q 08.
I’d remind you that Eee PC is positioned as an inexpensive multi-purpose solution for work and business and good for the vast audience. Eee PC features tiny size, 7” display, SSID drive, built-in camera, from 2 to 8 GB RAM and Wi-Fi wireless technology. It comes with Linux or Windows OS inside.

Pocket-lint reported with the reference to trusted sources that Microsoft would announce Windows Mobile OS update version 6.1 on April 1. The version is supposed to incorporate some improvements, such as new Homescreen, task manager, new capabilities of Internet Explorer, Mobile Device Manager 2008 and so on. Some greater changes will be implemented in the 7th version, which will be launched later on.
Well, we don’t know whether this info is true, it might be even a Fool’s day joke. On the other side, we have the CTIA Wireless 2008 show starting on April 1, so the Windows Mobile 6.1 announcement can really take place then.
