30 million Symbian smartphones – this is exactly the figure announced by Symbian consortium for Symbian smartphones shipped to Japan in 2007. These are real figures for the late November 2007.
The market share of Symbian handsets for Japans’ NTT DoCoMo grew from 50% to 65% year-on-year (according to Techno Systems Research, for the end of first half 2007). Currently subscribers in Japan can choose among 69 Symbian-powered phones made by 6 members of Symbian consortium: Fujitsu, Mitsubishi, Nokia, Motorola, Sharp and Sony Ericsson.
