The long awaited iPhone Software Development kit, initially to be launched back in February, but, it has now been revealed to take place on March 6th, one week after the initial deadline. The event is to be held at Apple's HQ, to be held under the banner of iPhone Software Roadmap. Nuvio sues Satnav maker Garmin, over the the Nuvifone name    [ 29-02-2008 16:10 ]

Author: Irina Turina   Source: Yahoo     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Nuvi, who offer an on demand business phone service, have announced that they have filed a lawsuit against Garmin, over the use of the name “Nuvifone”. This is similar to Cisco suing Apple over the use of the name "iPhone", although the two companies later agreed to work together in other areas, thus, the case was dropped. Not only do Nuvio want Garmin to stop using the Nuvfone – Garmin's all-in-one moile phone, but, also, they want the name Nuvi to not be used in any of Garmin's standalone GPS devices. Nuvi is also seeking damages, from past infringement.

Video of a touch controlled Android-smartphone    [ 29-02-2008 10:52 ]

Author: Irina Turina   Source: Electronista     Translation by: Rytchkova Anja    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

The BBC channel has shared a video clip with an unknown Android-based mobile device. This is an early proto released by a Google partner, says the source. The device is controlled via a touchscreen display mainly in addition to several hardware buttons. However the model doesn’t seem to involve multi-touch gestures. Being powered by a low-power 300 MHz processor, the smartphone though runs applications without delays. We’ve got no info whether a real product would be built on this proto. Remember that the pioneer Android models are expected by the end of this year.

Yahoo replaced by Google as default search engine, in Opera's mobile browser    [ 29-02-2008 01:49 ]

Author: Klimov Oleg   Source: intomobile     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Internet giant Yahoo, has been replaced by fellow rival Google, as Opera mobile's default search engine. Google has been the default search engine on Opera's desktop browser for some time now, and now, they are doing the same on Opera Mobile, and Opera Mini. This affects all markets, with the exception of Russia, and the Commonwealth of independent States, where the default search engine will presumably remain as Yahoo. The switch from Yahoo to Google as the default search engine will take place on March 1st, for Opera Mini.
