Greg Brown steps up to guide Motorola's phone biz    [ 05-02-2008 17:08 ]

Author: Serge Novikov   Source: Bloomberg     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Following the avalanche of rumors on possible separation of the mobile phone divison, after seeing $388 million losses for Q4 2007 alone, today, Motorola, the biggest mobile phone maker in the US, announced that CEO Greg Brown had taken complete control of the handset division. Brown's predecessor, Stu Reed started operating the unit last July, and while Reed will remain with the company, Erickson declined to disclose more details on that subject. Erickson said Brown (who was appointed CEO just last month) “decided to oversee the unit more closely to help speed its turnaround”. Motorola has tried to feed off the success of their original RAZR, but, that attempt never really worked out, as the RAZR2, and the rest of its family, failed to shake up the market.
