Nokia’s Comes With Music DRM-protected tracks get cracked    [ 11-12-2008 19:00 ]

Author: Irina Turina     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

As recent reports suggest, Nokia’s Comes With Music service has been cracked, to allow the songs purchased over the service, to be played on any device. In essence, the Comes With Music service lets you download as many tracks as you please, within the space of one year, free of charge if you buy it with some Nokia-branded phone. The catch is that the songs are DRM-protected, meaning they can only be played on the handset supported by the service, or the user’s computer. You can keep the songs that you’ve purchased, after the year’s complete, again, to only be played on the handset itself, or the users computer. However, the DRM protection of the songs has been stripped, by the software program Tunebite, which comes at a fee of 20 Euros. So, it’s possible to now play the songs on any device capable of playing media files. As of today, Nokia hasn't reacted to this news in any way.
