More details on Motorola ZN5 revealed    [ 24-04-2008 22:59 ]

Author: Irina Turina   Source: Engadgetmobile     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Below is an image of the upcoming high-end ZN5 from Motorola, in all of its glory. The camera sensor is made by Kodak, so hopefully the camera should be somewhat decent, which can't be said for many of Motorola's handsets.

Unfortunately, as we revealed last week, the handset is missing a 3G radio, so it's GSM-only we're afraid. Still, the morphing keypad, seen also in the E8 should hopefully make up for it somewhat.

Mid-end slim HSDPA clamshell announced by Sony Ericsson    [ 24-04-2008 17:56 ]

Author: Serge Novikov     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Sony Ericsson has announced a slim, HSDPA-capable mid-end handset – the Z780. Sony Ericsson also announced the G502, which we covered here.

Here are the technical specifications of the Z780:

  • Quad-band GSM connectivity, with EDGE support, as well as HSDPA ( 850/1900/2100 MHz) connectivity, and AGPS.
  • 128 x 160 pixels screen
  • Dimensions: 95.0 x 48.0 x 17.0 mm
  • Weight: 96 grams
  • 2 megapixel camera
  • M2 card slot
We ponder what use the AGPS will be on the ultra low-resolution screen. Still, the screen could have been quite a bit bigger (see below). The Z780 will be released by the end of the second quarter. Oddly, the product page says the Z780 has a 2.2-inch 320 x 240 pixels screen, whereas the press release says it's in fact 128 x 160 pixels. We'll keep you posted.

Nokia's N82 wins Best Imaging Device award    [ 24-04-2008 16:13 ]

Author: Irina Turina   Source: Unwiredview     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Nokia's N82 has proven itself to be a great camera phone time and time again, combining a good five megapixel camera, with an xenon flash to boot. So, it should be no surprise that it has won the best mobile imaging device from Technical Image Press Association. This isn't the first time Nokia has won the award – they won it last year with the N95, and the N80 the year before that.

Read our take on the N82 here.

Samsung goes back to basics with new handset    [ 24-04-2008 16:11 ]

Author: Serge Novikov     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Samsung has announced a new handset today, which has the most basic of features, and nothing more. The Anycall CC03 will have it's fans no doubt, especially when retailing for $65USD. The CC03 is a dual-band handset, measuring 4.07 x 1.73 x 0.58 inches – not very thin for a no-frills handset.

The keys are nice and large, but, unsurprisingly for a $65 handset, the screen is not – plus, it uses CSTN technology, as opposed to the standard – TFT. Battery life should be sufficient – the CC03 has a 750 mAh battery, giving you 2.8 hours of talk time. No news n a release outside Hong Kong at the moment.
