Sony introduced a flexible OLED display made of plastic. The company has already released a 2.5” proto and plans to make bigger samples.

This flexi-OLED features a 120x160 resolution and 16M colors, 100 cd/m2 brightness, 1000:1 contrast, 0.3 mm thickness, 1.5 g weight.

I’d remind you that last week Samsung and LG.Philips LCD introduced two AMOLED (active matrix-OLED) displays. These 3 companies will exhibit their products at Society for Information Display (SID) 2007.

Author: Irina Turina   Source: Justamp     Translation by: Rytchkova Anja    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Nokia 8600 (Luna), a much rumored device, is already available on Gumtree and eBay online. Reportedly, only 5 handsets have been offered for sale before the official release date. The source provided photos and short description of the phone, however you shouldn’t consider them absolutely true. According to it, Nokia 8600 is an elite handset, an heir of Nokia 8800, equipped with a 2-megapixel camera, an MP3-player, 1 GB of internal memory, support of Bluetooth and GPS-navigation.

The price tag on eBay makes up $1000. I’d remind you that Carphone Warehouse retailer is expected to launch official sales of Nokia 8600 tomorrow.

Sanyo Katana II, coming soon    [ 25-05-2007 10:37 ]

Author: Serge Novikov     Translation by: Rytchkova Anja    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has approved a cell phone under the codename Katana II by Sanyo. This CDMA model is referred to as the SCP-6650 and supports Bluetooth wireless technology.

The info on the Katana II will be fully available early in July and its pictures are banned, so far. However the sketches give us a hint of a sword-like device (Katana stands for the Japanese sword). To say the truth, it is hardly similar to the recent photos in the Internet, which were supposed to depict the real Katana 2.
