New GPS-navigators by Mio Technology    [ 16-03-2007 18:52 ]

Mio Technology has unveiled a series of new GPS-navigators at CeBIT 2007. Mio C520, Mio C520t and Mio C320 are equipped with 4.3” widescreen displays. They support display division, so you can see the map on the one part and the route info on the other part.

The senior navigator – Mio C520t is equipped with an integrated TMC-module (in the cradle), which communicates the road traffic situation. Both navigators C520 and C520t support Bluetooth interface, it is possible to make hands-free calls. The C320 lacks this capability.

The specs of the C320, C520 and C520t:

  • 4.3” touchscreen display, WQVGA (480x272 pixels), 65K colors
  • CPU - Samsung 400 MHz
  • 64 MB SDRAM and 1 GB flash ROM

  • Weight - 190 g

  • A more simple navigator, the C220, without any outstanding specs, was also introduced. It offers basic set of navigation functionality, and it is peculiar for being very unsophisticated. The C220 is equipped with a 3.5” touchscreen display. Optionally you can buy a TMC-receiver for it.

According to the Korean news sources Pantech is to introduce next month its slimmest handset. Being 9.9 mm thick it is positioned as the slimmest slider ever released on the local market. Currently Samsung is the leader with its 12.9-mm phone. The company could make such a slim phone by using magnetic fields in the opening mechanism.

The phone is equipped with a 1.3-megapixel camera, an MP3-player and supports T-DMB. The device is expected to be released in April at about 500 000 Won, i.e. $527.

NTT DoCoMo is about to introduce its new 3G FOMA handset at Design Week in Milan, April 18-23. The device was created by NEC in cooperation with the designer Stefano Giovannoni.

Mr. Giovannoni is a famous industrial designer, interior designer and architect. Among others he’s cooperating with the Italian designer company Alessi, Fiat and Siemens.

As it was expected, Samsung has introduced the second generation of its ultra mobile PC Samsung Q1 Ultra at the CeBIT 2007 show. The device stands out for its QWERTY-keyboard placed at both sides of the shell. The UMPC features long battery life – over 3.5 hours on thestandard battery and 6.8 hours on the optional battery.

The device got lighter and slimmer – 690 g and 22.9-23.9 mm thick. There is also a higher resolution display, a fingerprints scanner, two built-in cameras and so on.

  • Display: 7” touchscreen WSVGA (1024x600 pixels)
  • CPU - Intel, depending on the configuration
