FCC approved Sanyo SCP-7050    [ 06-03-2007 17:25 ]

The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has approved a new cellphone Sanyo SCP-7050. It will be released by the American operator Sprint. This is an heir of a CDMA model Sanyo SCP-7000, which is quite simple, but featuring higher outside resistance.

The SCP-7050 is likely to support Bluetooth interface. According to the schemes the phone will support GPS. There are no more details so far.

Sharp’s display with built-in fingerprints sensor    [ 06-03-2007 16:17 ]

Sharp Laboratories of Europe and Sharp Corp. have developed an LCD, which also can be used as a fingerprints scanner. The display has a 2.6” diagonal, VGA (640x480 pixels) resolution to be used in mobile devices.

There is an integrated image sensor, so for the identification purpose the user has to tap the finger to the display.

According to the developer the display involves a patented TFT technology CG-Silicon (continuous grain) TFT. It enables integrated schemes with different functions on one glass substrate during the process of foil forming.
