Sony Ericsson K530 – slim and 3G    [ 14-06-2007 22:10 ]

Author: Klimov Oleg     Translation by: Oleg Kononosov    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Another novelty showcased by Sony Ericsson today was the candybar-styled K530 with 3G connectivity. Apart from that, it is the first phone to support their another latest and greatest solution - GPS-module HGE-100, more on which later.

The handset sports very pocketable dimensions at 102x46x14 mm, and isn't a heavyweight either, tipping the scales at 92 grams. 16 Mb of built-in memory can be augmented with Memory Stick Micro M2 card. But what's really impressive for a mid-range offering is that the K530 comes with a 2-inch QVGA display capable of 262K colors. The K530 operates in GSM 900/1800/1900 and UMTS 2100. The maker quotes the battery life at 9 hours of talk time in GSM and 3 hours within UMTS networks; for standby the numbers are even at 395 hours each.

The main camera takes shots in 2 Mpix resolution and can use its digital zoom to get you 2,5x times closer to any object. On top of that, there is a forward-facing camera for video calls, and like we said above, this is one has a whole pack of technological talents under the hood – Bluetooth A2DP, PlayNow, TrackID, 3D-games, browser and RSS-reader. And naturally, we are happy to see radio in the K530.

Sony Ericsson K530 will come in either Warm Silver or Thunder Black in Q3 2007, at that the black-painted edition is expected to arrive in the market a tad later.

Sony Ericsson W910 – HSDPA-enabled slider    [ 14-06-2007 21:50 ]

Author: Klimov Oleg     Translation by: Oleg Kononosov    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Just like we expected, on this very day Sony Ericsson is making a great present to all its fans in the form of an array of new handsets. One of these is the Sony Ericsson W910 - a slide phone with UMTS and HSDPA connectivity onboard. Measuring 99,5x50,12,5mm it weights a mere 86 grams.

The phone is notable for featuring a bevy of connectivity options - GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz, UMTS 2100 Mhz, EDGA and HSDPA. 40 Mb of the inbuilt memory are expanded via Memory Stick Micro M2 memory cards; the W910's display puts on QVGA resolution along with 262K colors, but this aside, it can also switch into landscape mode.

For imaging aficionados, there is a 2 Mpix camera with video recording abilities and a front-facing camera for video calls. The main unit, though, doesn't seem to offer the auto-focus prowess we like so much, at least, the maker's page says nothing on this. Other things of note include FM-radio with RDS, Bluetooth A2DP profile, PlayNow 4.0 and TrackID. The slider will be offered in a choice of two colors - Hearty Red and Noble Black.

Samsung E950 - knack for imaging    [ 14-06-2007 13:11 ]

Author: Klimov Oleg   Source: unwiredview.com     Translation by: Oleg Kononosov    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

A camera in mid and top range phones today is more than just par for the course with the market's biggest players going more often for higher-resolution units, chunking 3- and even 5-Mpix solutions in. And we have got to know that Samsung's line is to be expanded with a slender slide phone boasting 3 Mpix camera module.

It will sell as the E950 and stand up to another Korean handset, the LG KG800 Chocolate, which is all the rage among fashion-conscious geeks. While 15,5mm thick, it has a QVGA display with 260K colors on it, 80 Mb internal memory which can be augmented with microSD cards. Also, it will have a hefty price tag of 500 USD to it.
