Universal declines long-term iTunes deal    [ 02-07-2007 13:15 ]

Author: Irina Turina   Source: Gizmodo     Translation by: Rytchkova Anja    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Universal Music Group declined to renew a long-term deal for iTunes music. It doesn’t mean the vast Universal catalog would be removed from the online store at once. Universal Music Group expects to sign a short-term sales agreement with Apple.

In effect, the music company will get more opportunities to place its tracks at Microsoft Zune or Rhapsody online stores, for example. As for Apple, it might benefit less. Besides this step by Universal can make adverse effect on DRM free music campaign promoted by Apple.
