Samsung introduces the SGH-i400 Symbian smartphone    [ 25-04-2007 14:36 ]

Today Samsung Electronics introduced its latest Symbian smartphone at S60 summit in Madrid. The new product will come to the stores under the SGH-i400 index. Notably, the Russian citizens will be the first to have buying opportunity for this smartphone, then it will be available in Europe, the company reported in its press release.

Samsung SGH-i400 comes in a slider form, too slim for a smartphone. It has a 2-megapixel camera, two stereo speakers and a large 2.3” TFT LCD. To top it all, there are some live pics of the device:

  • Cell networks: GPRS/EDGE 900/1800/1900 MHz
  • Dimensions: 101x50x15.8 mm
  • Weight: 92 g
  • Camera: 2-megapixel
  • Display: 2.3”, 240x320 pixels, TFT, 260K colors
  • Connectivity: Bluetooth 2.0 (A2DP profile), USB 2.0 microSD slot (up to 4 GB)

We’ve recently written that Fujitsu introduced a UMPC proto at Intel Developer Forum 2007 in Peking. Then we learned that it existed, no more details were reveled. This time some info on its specs has leaked. Reportedly, the UMPC features Intel Sealey 800 MHz processor, 1 GB memory, 40 GB HDD, SD reader, 2 cameras and 5.6” 1024x600 pixels display.

This is a sort of preliminary info, no official word. Fujitsu hasn’t disclosed the availability and pricing of the UMPC. Rumors suggest it will pop out this summer.

Sony launches CompactFlash storage cards    [ 25-04-2007 08:33 ]

Early this year Sony reported its intention to enter CompactFlash storage card market. Now Sony Europe’s Recording Media & Energy (RME) division has announced the pioneer CompactFlash line-up. It will consist of 1, 2 and 4 GB 66x cards. In addition there will be 2 and 4 GB 133x cards. The Sony CompactFlash memory cards are branded as part of Sony’s α100 D-SLR camera system.

The 66x cards ensure 10 Mbps/ 9 Mbps read/ write speed. As for the 133x CompactFlash cards boast of 20 Mbps transfer speeds. The manufacturer claims that a 4GB card can store 1508 JPEG photos taken with 10-megapixel Standard mode and 968 photos with Fine mode. Even if you store files in RAW and JPEG, the card is capacious of 200 photos or more.

The Sony CompactFlash memory card series will be available in May 2007.

Motorola has announced a limited edition of its MOTOKRZR K1 handsets in Champagne Gold color. The device is available in Hong Kong. The manufacturer claims it may become one of the fashion accessories of the season.

Other features remained unchanged. This clamshell phone debuted last summer. The MOTOKRZR K1 works in GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 MHz networks and has a 176x220 pixels LCD, a 2-megapixel camera, an MP3-player and Bluetooth support.
