Update of Nokia PC Suite - now available    [ 05-04-2007 14:56 ]

Nokia has released an update of Nokia PC Suite, version 6.83. This is a suite of applications for transferring data between Nokia phones and PC. It comprises data sync, notes, calendar, contacts, data backup/recovery, music management and etc. The connection runs via USB, IrDA or Bluetooth. At that the application is not confined to a single language, offering more than 30 editions in different languages.

The new Nokia PC Suite 6.83 brings about:

  • New version of Nokia Content Copier that lets you select the content types you want to back up and restore
  • Notification when new firmware version is available
  • Support for Windows Vista OS

IDC reports rising demand for protection and security solutions for mobile devices    [ 05-04-2007 10:35 ]

A research carried out by IDC has revealed that profit from licensing and support in the mobile devices security market is currently over $200 million and expected to be on rise for at least 5 years to come.

The demand for security software is particularly high among enterprise users, who need to protect confidential information stored on notebooks, PDA, smartphones and so on from unauthorized access in case of loss or theft of the device.

According to IDC analysts, the data protection solutions for mobile devices involve info blocking, wiping and encoding above all else. They believe companies will increasingly look for security solutions like mobile firewalls, antiviruses and other software of the kind in near future.

Samsung Electronics announced shipments of Samsung C170 to the Russian market. The phone should look attractive thanks to its design and price – key advantages according to the vendor. The C170 comes in at just 8.75 mm thick, and turns out to be one of the slimmest low-end phones around. It boasts messaging capabilities, Internet access, voice recorder and speakerphone. Would-be users should like an integrated FM-receiver with 10 preset stations. On a single charge the phone is good for up to 2.5 hours of talk time and up to 270 hours standby.


Samsung C170 will be available in April 2007 at the recommended price of 115 USD.
