Treo 750v officially announced

As it was expected today Palm introduced its communicator Treo 750v. This is the first Treo for Vodafone UMTS network and the first Treo powered by Windows Mobile 5.0 in Europe.
The device will come with Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC Phone with MSFP supporting Direct Push technology and some additional software developed by Palm. For example, extended Today screen has extra icons and opportunities, you can ignore the call and quickly make a reply message, like “I can’t talk”. Besides there is a special application for SMS and MMS messages.
The main specs of Treo 750v:
- GSM (quad band), GPRS, EDGE, UMTS
- Touchscreen TFT LCD, 240x240 pixels, 65K colors
- 1.3-megapixel camera with video capture opportunity
- QWERTY-keyboard
- 128 MB of memory plus 60 MB of user available flash memory
- Bluetooth (supporting stereo headset)
- Slot for miniSD cards
At first the Treo 750v will be available from Vodafone operator in Austria, France, Germany, the UK, Ireland, Italy, Holland, Spain, Switzerland, and then in other regions by the end of this year.

Photos of the Black Diamond proto for $300,000

We’ve already written about the mobile phone concept called Black Diamond. Until recently there weren’t any photos of the concept, the first image was computer made. Many doubted whether Sony Ericsson would bring this project to life (the phone is priced at $300,000).
Nevertheless, in the Internet you can find photos of the proto. Besides we have some technical specs: the smartphone will be powered by WM 5.0, work under quad-band GSM, support IEEE 802.11b/g, SIP protocol (VoIP-telephony), have Intel XScale PXA255 processor, 128 MB SD RAM, a touchscreen keyboard and titan shell (100x45x22 mm) and a 4-megapixel camera.
The new device is expected to be commercially available in the beginning of 2007.

SCH-V920: a Korean phone for traveling

Samsung Electronics and the Korean operator SK Telecom have unveiled a new mobile phone – the SCH-V920. It is dubbed “World phone” as it works in GSM and CDMA standards. According to the companies, there is the support of JCDMA version effective in Japan.
The SCH-V920 is made as a slider, it is 14.5 mm thick. It is equipped with a 1.3-megapixel camera, an MP3-player and supports Bluetooth interface. There is an e-dictionary, the phone supports roaming in 90 countries in America, Europe, Asia and Oceania. The sales start be the end of September. The recommended price makes up 500 thousand Won, i.e. $520.

O2 XDA Stealth smartphone approved by the FCC

The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has approved a GSM Windows-powered smartphone O2 XDA Stealth by the Taiwanese company GIGA-BYTE Communications. This is a slider with a touchscreen LCD, a 2-megapixel camera with auto focus, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless technologies.

i-mate to introduce i-mate JAQ and i-mate SPL

In the Internet appeared the press release of i-mate dated today. It says it will announce two new devices – i-mate JAQ and i-mate SPL at CTIA Wireless IT 2006 (12-14 September, Los Angeles). However there is no info about it at the official i-mate site. Both models are designed for GSM networking and powered by Windows Mobile 5.0 OS.
We’ve already mentioned i-mate JAQ in our news block, this device is developed by Inventec, not HTC. According to the press release, i-mate JAQ supports quad-band GSM/GPRS, has a QWERTY-keyboard, a 2.8” 65K color LCD, 64 MB RAM and 128 MB flash ROM, an expansion slot for miniSD cards and Bluetooth interface.
i-mate SPL is a smartphone with the design similar to Motorola SLVR. It can work under tri-band GSM/GPRS networks and comes with a 2.2” 65K color LCD, 64 MB RAM and 128 MB flash ROM, an expansion slot for miniSD cards and Bluetooth interface.
