LG enV entering the overcrowded US market    [ 27-11-2006 12:24 ]

Author: Serge Novikov   Source: Reuters     Translation by: Rytchkova Anja    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Today the American mobile service provider Verizon Wireless starts sales of a new smartphone by LG Electronics. The device known as LG VX9900 will be sold under LG enV name.

I’d remind you that there started the pre-Christmas season last Friday in North America, and Verizon Wireless and its competitors stake on hi-end mobile phones at lower prices, attracting users to data transfer services, such as e-mail, transfer of video and music.

The American operators are spending billions of dollars on upgrading their networks and data transfer services, but smartphones haven’t enjoyed great demand so far.

Verizon Wireless, the ¹2 mobile operator in the US, is hoping that great number of variety of cheap smartphones will burst the mass demand, however the analysts doubt it, as currently there are plenty of mobile phones with PC functionality on the market.
