SPH-M8100: a WiMAX slider

Samsung is preparing the release of another device supporting mobile WiMAX, known in Korea as Wibro. The SPH-M8100 slider was exhibited at Samsung Mobile WiMAX Summit 2006. It belongs to Mobile WiMAX MITs line and doesn’t support ordinary cell networks. It’ll be possible to make voice calls via Mobile WiMAX networks under VoIP technology. There is the support of IP multimedia services, including VoD, video conferences and Push-to-All service (similar to Push-to-Talk).
The SPH-M8100 is a communicator powered by Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC. It is equipped with a 2.8” QVGA (240x320 pixels) LCD, a 2-megapixel camera and an additional camera for video telephony. The device supports T-DMB broadcasting and has a TV-out. It can be used as a WiMAX-modem. A peculiar thing about it is that the company applied MMCmicro cards, which are rarely met in new Samsung models.
