Author: Verà Kozlova     Translation by:    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Benefon has reported that the shipments of the TWIG Discovery phone, which was introduced at 3GSM Congress in Barcelona early this year, should start in 3Q 2006.

All preliminary work is completed, and the mass production starts in July. At first the phone will appear in Finland, Germany, Spain, the UK, Denmark and Sweden and then in France, Netherlands, Russia and China.

I’d remind you this is the first device under the TWIG brand, which was also introduced early this year. The TWIG Discovery is meant for GSM networks and supports GPS-navigation.

Author: Verà Kozlova     Translation by:    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

We’ve already written that Samsung and LG were to release HSDPA phones in Korea. Today the companies have officially confirmed the fact.

Samsung Electronics releases the SPH-W2100 slider, which in addition to HSDPA services supports terrestrial DMB services. It is equipped with a 2-megapixel camera and an MP3-player. Its specs are similar to another HSDPA-model SCH-W200, but the latter supports satellite DMB services.

LG Electronics releases LG-SH100/LG-KH1000 slider, which is peculiar for the opening mechanism (up or at side). In the second case the LCD is landscape oriented and thus can be used for a more comfortable video telephony.

The phone is equipped with a 2.2” QVGA (240x320 pixels) 262K color LCD, an MP3-player, a 1.3-megapixel camera for photos and additional VGA-camera for video telephony, there is the support of Bluetooth and USB. Dimensions are 98x51.6x20.9 mm and weight – 125 g. It will carry up to 2GB of memory onboard and an expansion slot for microSD (TransFlash) cards. The recommended price makes up 700 thousand Won, i.e. about $730.

QDA Lite: another communicator by Qool Labs    [ 28-06-2006 11:35 ]

Author: Verà Kozlova   Source: CNETAsia     Translation by:    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

The Singaporean vendor Qool Labs has introduced another product – a PDA-enabled phone QDA Lite based on Windows Mobile 5.0. it comes with advanced specs compared to its predecessor QDA Oh introduced last year.

It has a faster CPU – Intel PXA 270 520 MHz, a camera with higher resolution (2-megapixel) and the most important thing – it supports Wi-Fi networking. Another nice moment is the slot for SDIO cards instead of miniSD.

Its name gives us a hint the device will be lighter, however there isn’t any official info on its weight. QDA Lite will be slimmer – 18.7 mm against 23.9 mm, but at the same time wider and longer. Full dimensions are 114x58x18.7 mm. The device is meant for GSM/GPRS (900/1800/1900 MHz) networking and equipped with 64 MB RAM, 128 MB flash memory and Bluetooth interface.

The specs of Nokia N95, more rumors    [ 28-06-2006 09:21 ]

Author: Verà Kozlova     Translation by:    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

At our English forum you can come across another list of specs of a new Nokia phone, which is not yet announced. These specs aren’t officially confirmed and might be rather dreams of the author than the reality. Anyway we have another piece of info:

  • 2.4” QVGA (240x320 pixels) LCD
  • 5-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens
  • DVD quality video (like in Nokia N93)
  • FM-radio
  • GPS-module (maps of more than 100 countries)
  • Support of WLAN and HSDPA
  • 3.5” connector
  • Slot for microSD cards
  • Bluetooth 2.0
  • USB 2.0
  • UPnP
  • S60 3rd Edition platform

Strange, but the list doesn’t include HDD, which is expected to be built in the model. Well, let’s wait and see.
