Garmin International has introduced a GPS-navigator Zumo specially designed for bikers. It is left-hand oriented, gloves friendly and has big buttons on the touchscreen LCD.

Zumo is equipped with a 3.5” LCD, the info from it can be read even under the bright sunlight. The shell is waterproof (up to 30 minutes 1 meter deep), the LCD is protected from fuel splashes and ultraviolet with special plastic.

The navigator can display speed and fuel level. When Zumo detects low fuel level, it will automatically inform about it and offer the route to the nearest fuel station. Besides it supports Bluetooth and has an MP3-player.

Optionally it comes with an FM RDS-TMC receiver or XM NavTraffic receiver to track road situation. The navigator is expected in shops this October.

Gigabyte releases a PDA-enabled phone with multi-lingual support    [ 20-07-2006 11:54 ]

Author: Verà Kozlova     Translation by:    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Gigabyte Communications has introduced its PDA-enabled phone gSmart i128 for the international market. It is positioned as the world first multi-lingual mobile device. The company says, it supports viewing of Internet pages and Windows Mobile documents in different languages of 98 countries.

The company offers an example of use – traveling businessmen can view share quotations or some other info in local language, for example, via hot spots in the airport. I’d note that this variety of languages might turn not relevant – there are not so many users knowing more than 2-3 languages. However the combination with the electronic dictionary is interesting…

The gSmart i128 is powered by Windows Mobile 5.0 AKU2.3 and supports Push Email technology. Taking into account the design and specs the gSmart i128 is almost similar to the gSmart i released in Taiwan, looking rather a version of it with multi-lingual support for the international market.

The device differs in larger flash ROM size – 128 MB instead of 64 MB, which stands in the name of the model, we assume. Like the gSmart i it is equipped with a 2.1-megapixel camera, TV (NTSC/PAL) and FM receivers and supports Wi-Fi networks.
