Samsung SPH-B5800: a Korean phone supporting TPEG

Samsung Electronics has made the Korean release of its mobile phone supporting T-DMB services. The company focuses attention on the TPEG function (Transport Protocol Experts Group), which provides timely info on traffic situation and possible traffic jams. The function involves T-DMB.
According to the manufacturer, there are portable players with TPEG except for mobile phones. The info on the traffic situation is renewed every 5 minutes via T-DMB channels. The users can even compare route variants with the displayed traffic info. Naturally this isn’t the only application of T-DMB in the model, it can display TV programs.

O2 Graphite smartphone officially

O2 Graphite is one of the models prepared by the operator O2 for the beginning of 2007. Some time ago it was approved by the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Now there appeared a special section devoted to the product at O2 Asia site.
This is quite an advanced smartphone powered by Intel XScale PXA 270 416 MHz, 64 MB RAM and 128 MB flash ROM. It is designed for 3G UMTS networks and support tri-band GSM and GPRS (no EDGE), Wi-Fi (802.11b/g) and Bluetooth.
In addition to the main 2-megapixel camera there is a frontal VGA-camera for video telephony. Its display features a 2.2” diagonal, QVGA (240x320 pixels) resolution. The smartphone is powered by Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone Edition. Measuring 109.5x46.9x18 mm it weighs 105 g.

NEC N6207 – a GSM phone with Bluetooth, a camera and a touchscreen

The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has approved a GSM phone NEC N6207 made by the Chinese mobile unit of NEC. The model is in essence a compact version of the N5106 without an FM-tuner and a digital block of buttons. There is the support of Bluetooth and a touchscreen display for the text input.

The short specs of NEC N6207:
- Networks: GSM 900/1800/1900 MHz
- Touchscreen display
- Camera: 1.3-megapixel with video capture
- Connectivity: WAP browser, USB, Bluetooth (modem/disk)

Nokia and Brian Eno: 10 exclusive phones-with-signature

Nokia and Brian Eno, a vanguard musician and ambient style legend, have announced a charity action. They put up for auction 10 Nokia 8800 Sirocco Brian Eno Signature Edition phones, the revenues will back to charity projects – Keiskamma Aids Treatment and The World Land Trust.
As we see from the name the new phones differ from the original Nokia 8800 Sirocco in the signature by Brian Eno. It is engraved on the front panel of the phone. Each handset will have a unique number. The auction will start on January 8 and last till February 12.
