Asus Z801: a fashion multimedia clamshell    [ 20-12-2006 18:19 ]

Asus has released its Z801 mobile phone in Taiwan. This is a fashion clamshell phone with the karaoke function. There are leather insertions and metallic details in the shell. The phone is quite advanced – 2 color displays, a camera, an FM-tuner, an MP3-player, stereo sound transfer via Bluetooth and so on.

The specs of Asus Z801:

• GSM (900/1800/1900 MHz) and GPRS class 10
• Internal display - 2” QVGA (240x320 pixels) 262K colors
• External display – 1” 128x128 pixels, 262K colors
• 2-megapixel camera
• FM-tuner
• Supported formats - MP3, AAC, WAV and MPEG4
• 64 MB of internal memory
• Slot for microSD cards
• Interfaces - Bluetooth, USB
• Li-Ion 750 mAh battery
• Talk time- 5 hours
• Standby time - 300 hours
• Dimensions – 92x46x23.5 mm
• Weight - 110 g

The recommended price makes up 16800 new Taiwanese dollars, i.e. about $515.

The Polish site PDAclub.pl has posted a series of photos of a new communicator HTC Athena with the fastening keyboard. The photos depict the communicator “alive” from all sides.

LG Electronics has announced a designer version of its new Shine phone. It is called Shine Designer’s Edition and released in limited edition. The phones are decorated with Korean letters, the font is designed by the famous Korean designer Lee Sang Bong, and the written poem is by the famous Korean poet.

I’d remind you that the Shine is the flagman model of the Black Label fashion series. It has been recently released by the company on the Korean market. The shell is made of stainless steel. The slider is 13.8 mm thick. Being a multimedia phone it comes with 1 GB of memory onboard.

Not long ago LG Electronics and Prada announced their phone. According to the press release this is a unique, elegant phone equipped with advanced touch interface, which will make traditional key panel excess. Soon after it there emerged photos of LG KE850 phone, which is not yet officially announced. One of peculiar features about the upcoming phone is the touchscreen.

LG Prada is based on LG KE850, but with different design, interface and accessories in Prada style, reports Dial-a-Phone source. Besides it has posted several images. The author claims these are the first “official” images of LG Prada phone. The model is expected to come out in March-April.

Sony Ericsson preparing its Bravia DVB-H phone, rumors    [ 20-12-2006 09:12 ]

On the forum of Esato source you can find interesting photos of a would-be new model by Sony Ericsson. The author describes its as “Bravia phone”. It is said to be the proto of a DVB-H phone in the slider form-factor.

The source doesn’t state this is a real life photo. I’d remind you that Sony Ericsson has recently introduced in Japan a couple of phones with Bravia branded displays offering high image resolution. Thus, this picture has a chance to be implemented in a real phone.
