Review GSM phone Hyundai H-MP728Hyundai H-MP728. Live pictures Package:
Today the market is not rich in phones designed specially for women, since it's rather hard to guess how popular the device will be. It seems the company of Hyundai is not afraid of troubles, that's why they created Hyundai H-MP728, which is a clamshell with two colour displays. The phone size is really small forming 69,8 x 41,8 x 23,6 mm, while the weight is 66 g. The handset lies well in a woman's hand but really gets sunk in a man's one. Also, women will find it easier opening the handset, since here nails are necessary to use side hollows which are too small. The device is shipped in a red lacquered body, which is easily marked, though not very noticeable. The plastic happened to be very reliable, and in the whole, the phone is well assembled. A coupled volume button is placed on the left-side surface. It's rather small and placed very comfortably - when speaking on the phone you'll exactly put your finger on it. Traditionally an interface slot is on the bottom, and the top one holds a strap hole. The top cover features a small (19x8.5 mm) dichromatic OLED screen. It can show up to two text lines and one service line with icons. Completely fading in the sun, it shows nothing then. The external screen is rounded by pastes, which are not just a decoration but service indicators as well. Also the top cover features gaps for call melody playback. Opening the phone, we see a small cSTN screen with the resolution of 128x96 pixels (24x19.5 mm) capable of 65K colours. The image quality leaves much to desire - the colours are withered, lacking brightness. In the sun, the display fades incompletely, so that information still can be read. An interesting thing is the package box tells "a large internal screen" is integrated, but one will surely get disappointed with this large screen. The navi block is represented with 2D button, two functional keys, call answer and end buttons. All of them are well distanced and comfortable in work. Number keys resemble a smile being placed in rows of three close to each other. Having average size they are easy to work with, no accidental pressures. The minus is the keys are of plastic a la metal, that's why they are quite easily soiled and show fingerprints after dialing a number. Also the next disadvantage is only Russian letters inscribed on the keys. The blue keypad backlighting is even and highlights all the characters well. A 550 mAh Li-Ion battery takes about the whole back of the device. In Moscow the phone averagely worked for 3 days in case of 15 - 20 minutes of talks and up to 20 minutes of using other functions. The result is not very impressing though quite acceptable. Full recharging takes about 2 hours. MenuThe main menu is represented with animated icons, and a navi bar on the bottom shows your location in the menu, as well as a name of the item. Submenus are vertical lists, and number sequences help in fast navigation. You can assign access to the selected menu item from the standby mode to the right functional key. The localization is well-carried out. The fonts are comfortable to read, no abbreviations. There is predictive text input for Russian and English. Unfortunately, you can't switch the inut language fast, that is done in the menu. Phonebook. There are two ways to access the phonebook. The first one is pressing a left functional key from the standby mode, and the second one is to use the main menu. Up to 200 contacts can be saved into the phone's memory. Each contact can have a name (up to 24 characters), three phone numbers with a capability to select its type (mobile, home, work, fax, pager), e-mail address (up to 38 characters) and an ICQ number. Besides, you can bind a picture and assign a contact to a group. Totally 6 groups are available, and each can have a call melody assigned. Also fast dial for 8 numbers is at your disposal, as well as setting a password for the phonebook. Searching the phonebook is possible by name or by a group. Contacts from the phone's memory and SIM one are shown together. A picture assigned to a contact s shown both at incoming and outgoing call, taking one third of its top part. Messages. Up to 20 messages can be saved into the phone's memory. The handset allows working with EMS, for this purpose a set of animations, pictures and melodies is present. Templates are also available. Only one recipient for an outgoing message. MMS are not supported. Call log. holds lists of dialed, missed and received calls. The same numbers are not summed up and are shown separately. Besides, a call counter is here as well, but it shows only the last call duration and total time. Settings. All the phone settings are gathered here. Phone settings allow selecting and setting a background image, setting backlighting time and contrast. There are 5 completely adjustable profiles. The vibracall can work with a melody. You can have a number (at incoming call) and menu items sounded Alarm clock is also here. Totally there are four of them, and each can work once (so set date and time), daily or weekly. Personal signal and a short text note can be assigned to an alarm clock. Tools. A plain file manager, a notepad (a note can't exceed 140 characters) and a plain calculator are here. The calendar allows both viewing monthly information and the whole vent list. Each even has date and time for action and an alarm signal. The calendar is very poor is capabilities, badly designed and uncomfortable to work with. Black list is here too. Though the function is badly realized. You can add a number only manually, not selecting from the phonebook. Games. Two games are preinstalled: arcade Fillip, and a space shooting Hurricane. Internet. WAP browser version 1.2.1 is here. ImpressionsThere are no complaints of the connection quality, the handset works well. The loudspeaker volume and microphone sensitivity is sometimes not enough, and practically nothing is heard in a noisy street. The 40-tones polyphony sounds middling, metallic notes are noticeably while playback. The alarm is very loud and perfectly heard even from the bag. Here are 15 melodies for a call and 5 for a message. The power of a vibracall is average. First, the device attracts with the dimensions and design, which are the main advantages of the phone. In addition, we should mention a good phonebook. The advantages include no MMS support, small internal screen. Average price for a model is 140 USD in Moscow, which makes this phone a good model to give as a present. Call melody samples ( 251 KB, mp3) Vladimir Fokin ([email protected])
