CTIA. HTC

HTC had one of the two brightest stars of the show – HTC Evo 4G, the first smartphone with 4G wireless technology (WiMax) on the US market and the first such phone running Android. The phone has a huge 4.3” screen and reminds of HD2 very much. It runs Android 2.1, Sense UI and is expected to be released on Sprint network during this summer. Like normal people do, when the phone is not ready, but needs to be shown at a major show, HTC showed the phone from their hands only because software is not fully ready. This is a fair approach, not what Motorola did with i1 or Huawei with their products: displayed them for the whole world to see, but did not allow taking pictures.

HTC and T-Mobile also released the updated version of HTC HD2 during the show and it now features Snapdragon 1Ghz processor and comes with a 16GB memory card with two full length movies on it: Transformers and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. The phone is offered at $199.99 with a new 2 year contract or $450 without one and as of this writing it is already sold out.

As for the other phones, there is not much to report, but HTC rolled out its whole North American current and upcoming lineup (at least what was ready to be shown) for your enjoinment.
