One of the things that famously separated Android from iOS in the early days of each OS was that Android had Flash and iOS didn't. Well that's about to change as Adobe will no longer be offering new installations of Flash from 15th August. A statement from Adobe read:
We will use the configuration settings in the Google Play Store to limit continued access to Flash Player updates to only those devices that have Flash Player already installed. Devices that do not have Flash Player already installed are increasingly likely to be incompatible with Flash Player and will no longer be able to install it from the Google Play Store after August 15th.
Google unveiled its latest iteration of Android earlier this week, Android 4.1 aka Jelly Bean. Adobe revealed that it hasn't been developing or testing Flash for this new version of Android at all so there will be no "... certified implementations ..." available for it. Adobe will keep up its work on desktop based Flash though.

The Nexus 7 might not actually be available to consumers yet, but that hasn't stopped rumours of a Nexus 10 from appearing. According to a DigiTimes report Google is lining up a 10-inch version of its Nexus 7 tablet. Apparently the display panels wil be supplied by Wintek and AU Optronics, the former having already supplied half a million touch panels to Google for the Nexus 7 tablet so that certainly sounds feasible if a Nexus 10 tablet is indeed in the works. Releasing a 10-inch tablet is frought with more risks than the 7-inch Nexus 7 though because 10-inch territory brings Google into direct conflict with Apple's iPad. Most likely Google will wait and see how the Nexus 7 performs first before deciding on whether or not to take on the iPad in its home turf.
