BBM Music is finally ready for prime time, at least if you live in Australia, Canada or the U.S. The app lets BlackBerry users add up to 50 tracks with a total choice ranging in the millions and of course hooks up with the various social networking capabilities of BBM so that Premium users can access their friends' music profiles. Take a look at the video below and keep an eye out for the app hitting more countries soon.

Nokia Maps For All (Well All Windows Phone Users)    [ 02-11-2011 11:21 ]

Author: Serge Novikov   Source: ZDNet     Translation by: Paul Smith    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

ZDNet are reporting that Nokia Maps should be available to all Windows Phone users and not just those using a Lumia. The move is expected "... within the next couple of weeks ...", but as ever there is a catch to go along with it. Although Nokia Maps will indeed be available to Windows Phone users in general the offline voice navigation feature won't be. Nokia Drive (the offline voice service) will be a Lumia 710 and 800 only club. There's no definite date for release yet, but as mentioned it should be within the next fortnight or so.

  Windows Marketshare Declines Slightly; Apple & Linux Up    [ 02-11-2011 11:18 ]

Author: Irina Turina   Source: Net Applications     Translation by: Paul Smith    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Net Applications have just released some new figures on the state of the desktop OS market and they show that Windows is continuing to decline, albeit slowly. Make no mistake about it Windows is still the overhwelming master of the OS market with a total share of 91.86%, but that's down from 92.44% in September. The decline comes as both Apple and Linux grew their own marketshare slightly; Apple up from 6.45% in September to 6.94% last month and Linux up from 1.11% to 1.19% over the same time period.

The decline in Windows' marketshare will probably continue for much of next year, at least until Windows 8 launches sometime in the second half of 2012. The fact that Windows 8 will also be seen in tablets will no doubt help to boost the already huge slice of the pie Windows has alongside its usual desktop sales.
