Google Voice Available for iPhone At Last ... Via HTML5    [ 26-01-2010 21:00 ]

Author: Serge Novikov   Source: IntoMobile     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Google Voice is finally available for the iPhone, albeit not through the App Store. As you may recall Apple rejected the Google Voice app because they said it reproduced core features of the iPhone. Well that doesn't appear to have dettered Google who have released it as an HTML5 web app that can be accessed through the iPhone's browser (it's also available to webOS devices like the Palm Pre). Apple can't really do much about this new implementation unless it wants to start blacklisting certain websites so it looks like their original blocking of the app was something of a phyrric victory as it only served to give the app a lot more attention than it might otherwise have received. In case you;re unfamiliar with Google Voice it essentially groups all your different phone numbers together under a single number; it also stores various related information in the cloud.

HTC To Get Android 2.1 Update In March?    [ 26-01-2010 20:43 ]

Author: Irina Turina   Source: Pocket-lint     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

It seems that the expected Android updates for HTC have been delayed until March, but the good news is that it's looking likely HTC devices like the Hero will jump straight from Android 1.5 to Android 2.1 The delays are apparently a result of HTC attemptting to fine tune the updates to play nicely with their SENSE UI. Irish network Meteor let the cat out of the bag: "We’ve been in contact with HTC and they have said that version 2.0 will be available in and around March of this year. HTC sense UI will be tightly integrated with Android 2.0, as with other versions of the software. Because of this new versions of the software take a while to develop. As for 2.1 this would also need to be developed and there is no update on this". They then updated their statement to say that after contacting HTC they were expecting the 2.1 update in March. All in all not too shabby especially for HTC customers eyeing up rival handsets like the Nexus and Motorola Milestone.
