Nokia Ramps Up Pressure On Apple, Files More Patent Claims    [ 16-12-2010 19:23 ]

Nokia and Apple aren't exactly bosom buddies what with suing the pants off of each other. Nokia has already claimed that Apple is infringing on a number of its patents in its suit, 24 at the last count to be exact.

Well Nokia have filed fresh claims in three European countries, the UK, the Netherlands and Germany that claim Apple is infringing on 13 more. The new claims take in patents such as on-device app stores, antenna design, signal noise suppression, messaging, chipset, caller ID and more besides. Nokia summed the situation up with a quote from Paul Mellin, their vice president of intellectual property:

"The Nokia inventions protected by these patents include several which enable compelling user experiences. For example, using a wiping gesture on a touch screen to navigate content, or enabling access to constantly changing services with an on-device app store, both filed more than ten years before the launch of the iPhone."

We doubt many jaws would hit floors if Apple were to shortly file counter claims.

Consoles of yesteryear often find a new following through emulators for other platforms, certainly old Nintendo games are alive and well through emulators. In that very spirit of resurrecting the deceased it looks like the Dreamcast may yet live again through Android.

Drk||Raziel has posted up some footage showing nullDCe for Android, a Dreamcast emulator. The videos range from 'Soul Caliber', which is buggy to 'Crazy Taxi', which is a lot smoother. Check them out below.
