To date, there has only been one 12 megapixel handset announced for release - that being the Sony Ericsson Idou, which was recently announced at the Mobile World Congress. According to LG's head of marketing for the United Kingdom, Jeremy Newing, the company is planning to release a 12MP cameraphone, at some point. He said: "We'll very much be releasing a 12MP cameraphone. However, it's important that people realize when taking 12MP images, they'll be using huge amounts of data, and it will be more difficult to do things like send such files." So, that's currently two 12MP cameraphones that should be released this year, it'll be interesting to see if any other manufacturers announce a 12MP handset this year, as the megapixel race heats up.

Palm's Pre handset alleged to be available exclusively on Sprint until the year's end    [ 20-02-2009 22:54 ]

Author: Irina Turina   Source: CNBC     Translation by: Administrator    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

When Palm's recently announced Pre handset becomes available on the market, in the US, network operator Sprint will apparently have exclusive rights to the handset. That is, the Pre will only be available on Sprint, until at least the year's end.

Though, with no specific release date for the Pre set in stone, Sprint's alleged exclusive lock might not be for as long of a time as you might first think, but, time will tell on the matter. Palm's Pre handset sports a touchscreen, slide-down QWERTY keyboard and, arguably most notably of all, it's the first Palm device to run on the new webOS.
