RIM’s patent: lock phone camera with the key    [ 12-03-2008 11:13 ]

Author: Irina Turina   Source: Engadgetmobile     Translation by: Rytchkova Anja    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

RIM has filed a patent application for the technology, which will be in demand by business users caring about intellectual property protection. Phone manufacturers offer mobile devices without built-in cameras, but the choice isn’t rich: the camera has become the standard feature in modern phones, smartphones and communicators. This time RIM plans to add a special key to lock BlackBerry smartphones. The removable key will prevent the camera from being used. The locked camera will be idle, while the users access the rest functions. When they leave the “secret” premises they can resume the camera function.
