Nike and Apple go on with Nike + iPod project and team up with fitness equipment makers. Currently they are partnering with such companies as Life Fitness, Precor, Star Trac and Technogym. The project gives opportunity to iPod users to connect their iPods to cardio machines, stationary bikes, treadmills, track their workouts. The data can be uploaded to the NikePlus site to help users monitor their progress. Reportedly, Nike + iPod equipment will be available at the 24 Hour Fitness and Virgin Active Health gyms.

At the current CeBIT 2008 in Hanover GIGABYTE has officially announced two new products – a mobile Internet device (MID) M528 and an ultra mobile PC M700. The M700 UMPC is packed in a white compact shell with the touchscreen and without a keyboard.


The following specs of GIGABYTE M700 are known:

  • Chipset - VIA C7-M
  • CPU – 1.2 GHz
  • OS - Windows Vista Home Premium
  • Display – 7” touchscreen 1024x600 pixels
  • 2 GB RAM
  • HDD – 1.8” 40 or 60 GB
  • Built-in GPS-receiver
  • Two cameras
  • Networks - 3.5G and WiMAX
  • Weight - 650 g

The M528 mobile Internet device is equipped with a QWERTY-keyboard and based on the new platform Centrino Atom (Menlow) running on Linux OS.

The specs of the M528:

  • CPU - 800 MHz
  • Display – 4.8” touchscreen 800x480 pixels
  • 512 MB RAM
  • 4-GB SSD-drive
  • 3-Mpix camera and 300-kpix
  • GPS-receiver
  • Bluetooth interface
  • Weight - 340 g

Rumors about an upcoming Asus Galaxi Mini communicator leaked to the web early in February. This time Asus has officially announced the device with the index P320 at the CeBIT 2008.
