RIM decided to refresh the BlackBerry Curve 8300 lineup with two new communicators 8310 and 8320. T-Mobile has announced the 8320 communicator supporting Wi-Fi offering it for $250 on a 2-year service plan. In addition the device supports UMA technology (unlicensed mobile access), which will help spare money on international calls.

BlackBerry Curve 8310 differs in a GPS-module and the lack of Wi-Fi. Other specs are identical, including a QWERTY-keyboard, a QVGA-display, a 2-megapixel camera, 64 MB of onboard memory and a microSD slot.

Bluetooth SIG (Special Interest Group) has certified a brand new smartphone by HTC mentioned in the documents as the Kii. Unfortunately, there are no details on its specs. We know that it is really the smartphone without the touchscreen and powered by Windows Mobile Standard. Logic hints that the Bluetooth SIG documents mention Bluetooth 2.0+EDR support for HTC Kii. Pictures of the smartphone are also unavailable yet.

Vertu has launched another modification of its Ascent luxury phone. The main specs are similar to the rest of the series: this is a specially designed candy bar handset with a 116x148 pixels display and sapphire coating. Design was created to celebrate Ferrari’s 60th Anniversary. It resembles Ferrari 612 Scaglietti and comes with dedicated wallpaper and ring tones. There will be released mere 60 units of Vertu Ascent Ferrari 60.


Ascent Ferrari 60 placed in a titan shell involves Ferrari screws and leather materials applied inside the cars. The new Vertu Ascent is decorated with the Ferrari logo. The device comes with the Vertu Aerius Bluetooth-headset. In addition the vendor undertakes to replace leather materials of Vertu Ascent Ferrari 60 every six months.

Amoi has unveiled 3 new business communicators – N8, N800 and N810. They are based on Samsung SC32442 400 MHz processor and Windows Mobile 6 Professional OS. All the models feature navigation capabilities powered by a built-in 20-channel SiRF Star III GPS-receiver.

 

The main specs of Amoi communicators:

  • Networks - GSM/GPRS/EDGE (900/1800/1900 MHz)
  • OS - Windows Mobile 6 Professional
  • CPU - Samsung SC32442 400 MHz
  • 128 MB ROM and 64 MB RAM
  • Display – 2.8” touchscreen, 65K colors

  • USB 1.1, Bluetooth 1.2, RS-232

 

In addition Amoi N8 supports 802.11 b/g wireless networks and Amoi N800 – a 480x640 pixels screen resolution. While the rest communicators are equipped with QVGA displays. The devices have different dimensions and weights: Amoi – 59.6x118.8x15.6 mm and 130 g; Amoi N800 – 59x109x15.7 mm and 120 g; Amoi N810 – 59x109x16.1 mm and 123 g. The release is scheduled for this October.

Acer has extended its Ferrari notebook lineup with the 1100 model. It is packed in a carbonic fiber shell. The device is based on AMD Turion 64 X2 2.3 GHz processor and ATI Radeon X1250 3D graphical adapter and up to 960 MB of HyperMemory. There is a 12.1” WXGA display. In addition Acer Ferrari 1100 comes with a DVD SuperMulti DL and up to 250 GB HDD.

 

There is the support of Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g wireless networks. It also features DASP protection technology, a fingerprints sensor and Dolby 3D sound technology. Acer Ferrari 1100 is supplied with Windows Vista Ultimate, Windows Vista Business or Windows Vista Home Premium OS.
