Samsung to release the first handset for GSM/GPRS/EDGE, TD-SCDMA and HSDPA    [ 09-11-2007 16:50 ]

Author: Irina Turina   Source: Cellular News     Translation by: Rytchkova Anja    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Samsung together with NXP Semiconductors and T3G Technologies has announced the world first multi-mode handset supporting GSM/GPRS/EDGE, TD-SCDMA and HSDPA. It is based on T3G7210 system solution involving Embedded Vector Processor (EVP) by NXP.

TD-SCDMA cell network is currently deployed in 10 big cities in China with 70 million would-be subscribers. It is expected to build up the network to Release 5 (HSDPA) during the next year.

Samsung SGH-T578H features the TD60291 HSDPA-modem, NXP Adelante VD32040 processor, which enables 2.8 Mbps peak data transfer speed with full support of 3GPP TDD-LCR Standard release 5. In addition the company has implemented the support of quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and dual-band TD-SCDMA. The system solution includes multimedia accelerator, so the device can do without an external co-processor for advanced handsets.

Designer edition of Samsung SGH-Z240 by Vittorio and Lucchino    [ 09-11-2007 12:24 ]

Author: Irina Turina   Source: Unwiredview     Translation by: Rytchkova Anja    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Samsung has introduced a designer version of the SGH-Z240 phone. It is created together with Vittorio & Lucchino fashion house. I’d remind you that Samsung SGH-Z240 clamshell can work in 3G networks and belongs to entry-level handsets. It debuted in April 2007. The model features a 1.3-megapixel camera, a frontal VGA-camera, Bluetooth 1.2 and a microSD-slot.

The SGH-Z240 by Vittorio and Lucchino is expected in stores on December 1. Although the phone has the designer shell, it remains inexpensive. In Spain you can buy it for €59 on a service plan by Orange.

Nokia N82 – countdown    [ 09-11-2007 10:59 ]

Author: Irina Turina     Translation by: Rytchkova Anja    Send news to friend  Discuss in forum

Nokia has launched another countdown on this page. As usual it hasn’t provided details that the event will be on time. But still we can assume the official announcement of Nokia N82 will eventually take place: the page belongs to N-series section. Currently it shows 124 hours and 14 minutes (plus seconds). Thus in 5 days we’ll see the mysterious announcement of Nokia N82 (or whatever the company has in store). So let’s wait and see. I’d remind you that the similar page had been already launched with the announcement set for November 2, which turned to be idle for some reasons.
