Samsung K3: the slimmest MP3-player    [ 10-01-2007 19:07 ]

Samsung Electronics has officially announced its new audio player K3. We mentioned the device late in November, however there was little info about it. Taking into account design, Samsung K3 looks like Samsung K5, but without the part with stereo speakers.

Samsung positions the new product as its slimmest MP3-player at the moment – 6.8 mm. The player is equipped with a 1.8” OLED display. In addition to music functionality the device can display JPEG pictures and run slideshows. As for the music, the payer supports MP3, WMA, DRM10 formats. There is an FM-tuner.

On a single charge the player lasts for 25 hours in music mode. It is available with 2, 4 and 8 GB flash ROM onboard. The release is set for March.

There is one more product by Samsung at CES 2007 show – a slim candy bar phone SGH-a727. It is made in the traditional style for Ultra Edition and looks like the Ultra Edition 8.4 (Z370). The phone is peculiar for the support of HSDPA high speed data transfer standard. The device is 8.9 mm thick.

There is a 2-megapixel camera, an MP3-player, an expansion slot for microSD cards, a 1.9” 220x176x262K color display. With HSDPA the users can download various advanced content, by the way there is the support of WMDRM content downloading. Bluetooth interface with A2DP profile ensures the transfer of stereo sound.

Samsung SCH-i760: a new communicator for CDMA    [ 10-01-2007 12:18 ]

Samsung has exhibited its new Samsung SCH-i760 communicator. It was rumored as the device for the American operator Verizon Wireless, powered by the next operating system – Windows Mobile Crossbow Pocket PC. The communicator is equipped with two keyboards – a digital one under the display and a QWERTY side sliding keyboard. It supports CDMA 1x EVDO standard.

The device features a 1.3-megapixel camera with video capture opportunity, a 2.8” QVGA (240x320 pixels) display (landscape and portrait modes). It carries 64 MB RAM and 28 flash ROM onboard and an expansion slot for microSD cards. There is the support of streo sound transfer via Bluetooth (A2DP profile).

The SCH-i760 is powered by Windows Mobile for PPC PE. There is no number of the series, however after the announcement of the Crossbow, we might see this very index.

Sony has announced the release of Memory Stick PRO Duo card capacious of 8 GB. This is the highest capacity available for the format, says the company. Such cards are designed for digital cameras and entertainment portable devices.

Memory Stick PRO Duo cards come with adapters for the standard Memory Stick size. 8GB cards will be compatible with all products of Sony Cybershot, Handycam and VAIO series to be released from 2007 on. There will be a software upgrade for earlier Sony VAIO and PSP. Memory Stick PRO Duo 8 GB will be commercially available in February at some $300.
